Students learn about tourism in Tutong

Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre’s (PTES’) Travel and Tourism Department recently welcomed officers from Tutong District Creative and Development Body (BKKT) who delivered a briefing on their roles in Tutong tourism while enlightening students with interesting activities for tourists.

According to Head of Travel and Tourism Department Hajah Siti Ainun Jariah binti Haji Mohamad Ja’afar, the briefing was aimed at exposing travel and tourism students to the roles and functions of BKKT.

The agency, established in January 2019, is aimed at introducing projects geared towards developing Tutong District, especially in terms of social and economic progress, such as One Village One Product (1K1P) and tourism.

Among the initiatives to put Tutong on the map include Tutong.click which provides a calendar of events such as Karnival Lakanon Tutong and Galeri Destinasi Tutong.

BKKT Officer Muhammad Amir told the students that the district has over 50 tourist destinations, including recreational parks, community centres and galleries.

Among the projects in the pipeline, he said, is the launch of four community-based tourism packages in the near future.
