I was recently overtaken by a small car on the highway between Brunei-Muara and Belait districts. The female driver, who overtook me, was wearing a seat belt but her two young boys in the front passenger seat weren’t.
The woman was completely oblivious to the potential dangers she had put her children in. In the event of a collision, her carelessness could cost lives; and not just any lives, but the lives of her own children.
The situation was exacerbated by the woman’s apparent affinity for high-speed driving.
I believe more awareness needs to be raised regarding the importance of seat belts, not just for the drivers but for all passengers in a vehicle.
