The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in a statement yesterday warned the public to be cautious of receiving SMS messages believed to contain gambling elements from an unknown phone number.

The tactic used to advertise gambling activity through SMS aims to attract people to bet using cash by clicking on the link and number.

Although there has yet to be any report of losses lodged, the RBPF issued a warning to remind the public not to fall victim to the scam.

The RBPF also reminded not to rent out their personal telephone number for gambling activities or to any criminal element, not to misuse the Internet or social media for criminal activity as well as to not rent out or give access of personal banking accounts for criminal activity.
