Registration opens for Al-Quran Memorisation and Understanding Competition

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) through its Centre of Studies and Dissemination of Al-Quran in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore Islamic Religious Council (MABIMS) has opened registration for the National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and Understanding Competition for 1442 Hijrah.

Citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam are eligible to participate. The competition will be divided into five categories with the following specifications.

Category ‘A’ is open for those aged 13 and under, who were born 2008 and above; never won in particular category for two consecutive years; the applicant should not be a student from any Tahfiz Al-Quran institutions locally or abroad during the registration or after submitting their applications. The student is also required to memorise selected verses along with its understandings from Surah Al-Ghaashiyah, Surah Al-Fajr, Surah Adh-Dhuhaa and Surah Al-Qadr.

Category ‘B’ is open for those aged 14 and above, born in 2007 or after; has never received memorising allowance from the Brunei Darussalam Tasmie’ Al-Quran Memorisation Allowance in the categories of 10, 20 and 30 Juzuks for four consecutive times in the past and never won in this particular category for two consecutive years, or studies at any Tahfiz Al-Quran institutions locally and abroad. The participants will be required to memorise selected verses including Surah Al-Kahfi, Surah Luqman, Surah As-Sajdah, Surah Ar-Rahmaan, Surah Al-Waqi’ah, Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Insan, Surah Yaasiin and Surah Al-Jinn along with its understandings from Surah Al-Jumu’ah and Surah An-Nur.

Category ‘C’ is open for all ages, especially those who have never received allowances from the Brunei Darussalam Tasmie’ Al-Quran Memorisation Allowance for Categories 10, 20 and 30 Juzuks for four consecutive times and never won in this category for two consecutive years. This category’s participants are required to memorise three Juzuks of Al-Quran and the understanding of Surah An-Nisa.

Category ‘D’ is open for all ages, especially those who have never received allowances in category of 30 Juzuks. They are required to recite 15 Juzuks of Al-Quran from Juzuks 1 to 15 and understanding of Surah Al-Anbiyaa’ and Surah Al-Hajj. Participant must also has never won in this particular category.

Category ‘E’ is also open for all ages; never won the category for three consecutive years in memorising 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran. The participants will recite from Juzuks 1 to 30, with the understanding of Surah Al-Ahqaf, Surah Muhammad, Surah Al-Fath, Surah Al-Hujurat and Surah Qaff.

Entry forms can be obtained from MABIMS Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Block 2H, 8th Floor, Ong Sum Ping condominium. Forms must be submitted no later than November 30 at 4pm.
