Recipients grateful for Korban meat donation

Packages containing Korban meats were distributed among the Asnaf Fakir Miskin at two sessions following a Korban ceremony at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday.
The ministry’s senior officials and officers were present.

Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammed Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim led the first group to distribute the Korban meat at three houses of selected Asnaf families in Kampong Jaya Setia, Mukim Berakas ‘A’.

Meanwhile, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang led the second group to distribute the Korban meat to another three houses of selected Asnaf families in Kampong Orang Kaya Besar Imas, Mukim Berakas ‘A’.

Recipients at Kampong Jaya Setia were Mas Hiromanto bin Abdul Rahman, Juraini bin Julkifli and Latip bin Mat Nor, while recipients at Kampong Orang Kaya Besar Imas were Hartini binti Osman, Rusdi bin Besar and Mohd Rosamirul bin Haji Samat.

Mohd Rosamirul who has been receiving Baitul Mal assistance of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) for the past nine years, expressed his gratitude to the council and the government for the donation.

Mohd Rosamirul is provided with house rental assistance of BND500 monthly, in addition to the Baitul Mal assistance for his wife and three sons after he lost his job.

He is also thankful to have his three sons provided with an education allowance of BND60 per month by the Baitul Mal.

Two of his sons are in their secondary level at Berakas Secondary School while his youngest son is a primary student at Anggerek Desa Primary School.

Mohd Rosamirul operates a satay stall to help provide for his family.

He also repairs cars and tricycles at the Bandarku Ceria during the weekend. Mohd Rosamirul leant some basic mechanic from his neighbour, and receives some work from time to time at his rented house during the day. He sells satay at night.

He and his wife also participated in the Ramadhan Bazaar online organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports by selling Roti John.

The distribution of the Korban meat yesterday saw 249 poor and destitute families selected as recipients of this year’s Korban.
