I was recently grocery shopping at a supermarket when I found out that there was a minimum transaction amount of BND20 for card users. I was already in the queue for checkout and had no choice but to grab junk food along the way to make the mark.
I would like to think that all businesses are ethical. But I can’t help but wonder if it’s a ploy to get its customers to spend more, especially with the recent push for contactless payment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the government advising us to incorporate the habit of social and physical distancing while the world continues to battle the coronavirus outbreak, I believe businesses should show more support for the initiatives, instead of taking advantage of the measures to make a quick profit.
