The Diplomatic Corps hosted a farewell dinner reception for outgoing High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Mahmud Hussain at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom of The Empire Brunei yesterday.

Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari expressed farewell wishes on behalf of the diplomatic community and congratulated Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Mahmud Hussain for his successful tenure.

He said, “We would like to congratulate you for the advancements in Brunei-Bangladesh bilateral relations during your productive tenure in this beautiful Abode of Peace. We happily observed that Brunei and Bangladesh bilateral ties were further strengthened throughout your tenure.”

He said, “Last year, I closely followed the visit of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, which I believe was her first official visit to Brunei which turned out to be successful and fruitful, judging from the fact that both countries have signed several Memorandums of Understanding covering wide fields of cooperation during the visit.”

Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Mahmud Hussain extended his appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, members of the royal family, the Government of Brunei Darussalam and the Diplomatic Corps who extended their cooperation and support during his tenure in Brunei.
