No traces of Fall armyworm

Following a temporary halt in maize cultivation to curb the Fall armyworm, local farmers will be allowed to resume planting the crop from August 15.

On May 7, the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) adopted drastic measures to end the life cycle and spread of the Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) by issuing a written order to all maize farmers to destroy their crops, in accordance with the provisions under Section 13 (1) Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plants, Chapter 43.
