MoD holds talks with architects, professional engineers

The Ministry of Development (MoD) in collaboration with the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) and the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) held a dialogue session for Qualified Persons (QPs) who comprise architects and professional engineers, and Registered Building Draughtsmen (RBD) registered under the Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (BAPEQS) at Indera Pahlawan Hall yesterday.

Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoD Haji Arefin bin Haji Jaya was the guest of honour.

The ministry holds the dialogue regularly to disseminate information on changes involving the submission process for development applications to DTCP and ABCi, as well as changes to the process for house extension applications, and other types of development.

The session saw participants provide feedback to identify improvements needed to further ease and facilitate the development process.

Endorsement by departments such as Department of Road, Department of Drainage and Sewerage, Department of Water Services and Department of Electrical Services must be obtained by the QPs and RBD via email before submitting an Planning Permission submission to the Planning Authority and subsequently an application for Building Approval – BA, Form C – Permit to Carry Out Building Works and Occupation Permit (OP) to ABCi.
