Ministry of Energy marks Hijrah new year with religious talk

The Ministry of Energy, its departments and associated statutory bodies held a religious talk in conjunction with the celebration of the Islamic New Year 1442 Hijrah at the Main Theatre Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.

The event was jointly organised by the ministry’s Legal Unit, International Affairs Unit and Permanent Secretary Office.

Acting Minister of Energy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw was the guest of honour.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a religious talk entitled ‘Hakikat Hijrah’ delivered by Co-founder of Al-Minhaaj Centre Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak.

He discussed the significance of Hijrah which is the “migration” of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his companions from Makkah to Madinah.

The event was part of the ministry’s annual religious event aimed at fostering the relations between the staff of the ministry, its departments and statutory bodies.

Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power) at the Ministry of Energy Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, officers and staff of the Ministry of Energy, the Department of Electrical Services, Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam were also present. The event was also held in adherence with the guidelines set by Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
