Ma’al Hijrah to be celebrated on August 19

The national celebrations for the Islamic New Year 1442 Hijrah will start from 5pm on August 19, with Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong as the focal point of the religious event.

The event will also be simultaneously observed at all mosques and religious halls nationwide, with other focus at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque for the Belait District, the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong for Tutong District, and the Utama Mohamad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar for Temburong District.

To curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country, congregants are required to adhere to safety guidelines such as registering with the BruHealth app to obtain green and yellow code approvals, performing their ablutions prior to attending prayers at the mosque, wearing face masks, bringing their own large-sized prayer mats, scanning the BruHealth QR code, undergoing temperature checks, sanitising or washing their hands, observing social and physical distancing, avoiding from handshakes, and staying at home if feeling unwell.

Those who wish to take part, particularly at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, are advised to book their slots through the BruHealth app. Children under 12 and women are not allowed
to attend.

The programme will include the recitation of Doa Akhir Tahun 1441 Hijrah and Doa Awal Tahun 1442 Hijrah, while the theme for the National 1442 Hijrah celebration is ‘Generasi Berilmu, Beramal Dan Berakhlak Memacu Pembangunan Umat’.
