Ministry of Home Affairs
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and departments under it held a Korban ceremony organised by the Prisons Department yesterday which saw the distribution of Korban meat to the underprivileged as well as individuals in the Rakan Seliaan programme under the Prisons Department.
The event began with mass Asar prayers and Takbir Raya at the Ministry of Home Affairs religious hall.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Permanent Secretary (Safety, Welfare and Law) Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) Salminan bin Haji Burut, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Security and Welfare), heads of departments, officers and staff at the MoHA and departments under it were present.
The ceremony was part of MoHA’s annual religious activities aimed to enliven Islamic practices and to strengthen ties towards gaining blessings and forgiveness from Allah the Almighty.
Prime Minister’s Office
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Banquet Hall of the PMO yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud was present. Special guests, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries and departments heads were also present.
The event began with Takbir Raya led by Mosque Affairs Officer Pengiran Haii Muhammad Hafizuddin bin Pengiran Haji Bakar.
The event continued with the distribution of meat by the minister.
Recipients of the Korban meat comprised personnel under the PMO and its departments and selected Asnaf registered under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), whose share of meat will be delivered to their homes.
Eight cattle and three goats were slaughtered for the ceremony held in accordance with the advices as well as guidelines on health and mass gathering. The ceremony serves as one of the religious practices that fall under Sunnah Muakkad, which reflects and signifies the sense of gratefulness to Allah the Almighty for all the blessings that have been bestowed in life.
The practice also serves to cultivate a sense of caring and compassion for the community while at the same time strengthening relationships among Muslims.
Yesterday’s ceremony constituted one of the several religious activities held annually by the PMO. This year it was jointly organised by the Vision, Finance and Cabinet Division, together with the Internal Security Department and State Judiciary Department.
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports
In enlivening the celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and its departments organised a Korban ceremony at Lecture Hall of Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.
Guest of honour Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin distributed the sacrificial meat.
The ceremony began with Takbir Raya led by Al-Quran Teaching Staff of Youth and Sports Department Abdul Halim bin Haji Fuad.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports) Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) Saidah binti Haji Wahid, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Cultural) Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, heads of departments, senior officials, and staff of MCYS and departments under it were also present.
Similar events were also conducted at two other venues to take precautions against COVID-19, namely the Balai Sarmayuda of the Language and Literature Bureau where the sacrificial meat was distributed by Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; and at the Theatre Hall of Archive, Museums Department where Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan distributed the Korban meat to participants. This year, seven cows were slaughtered. The portions of the sacrificial meat were distributed to 359 underprivileged families, orphans and staff of MCYS. Another 179 containers were distributed to the public via delivery to their homes.
Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held a Korban ceremony at its premises to mark Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
Organised by its Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, the event was attended by Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, who also distributed the sacrificial meat. Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab and senior officials and staff at the ministry also participated.
Three buffaloes were sacrificed this year and a portion of the meat distributed to 45 underprivileged families in Mukim Berakas by the staff of the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood.
Ministry of Development
Syazwani Hj Rosli
The Ministry of Development and departments under it yesterday held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
Present as the guest of honour to distribute the Korban meat was Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar.
The event began with the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas followed by mass Asar prayers at the ministry’s surau.
The event continued with the distribution of sacrificial meat to three participants and 16 others by the minister. Another 78 selected recipients residing around Mukim Pengkalan Batu and Mukim Lumapas as well as 167 staff members of the ministry and departments under it also received a portion of the sacrificial meat delivered to their doorstep by an appointed slaughtering company and through their departments’ representatives.
This year, 35 participants took part in the Korban ceremony and five buffaloes were slaughtered.
