A 29-year-old Indonesian man was jailed eight months by the Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty to charges of theft yesterday.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli informed Magistrate Mohammad Marzuqi bin Sabtu that Nanang Eko Prasetyo, a labourer working with a company, first stole BND25 from his colleague and a pendrive from the victim’s room while he was passing by and saw the door left open at the quarters where they live in Kampong Sengkurong at 4am on July 8.
The following day at work in Rimba Point, the defendant went to rest in the locker room when he noticed the same victim’s locker left open.
He took a peek and pulled out an envelope containing a BND100 note which he took.
The victim filed a police report for both incidents which, from investigations, led to the defendant’s arrest.
