Guilty pleas of theft retracted

The Magistrate’s Court on Thursday allowed for the retraction of a plea from an Indonesian domestic helper who at first pleaded guilty to stealing her employer’s mobile phone.

It was 25-year-old Satriani’s claim, that she had taken the mobile phone to make her employer angry and repatriate her, which prompted the court to allow the retraction of plea.

DPP Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli’s allegations against the defendant state that she had stolen the phone at the household in Kampong Tanjong Nangka sometime between July and August 10.

Senior Magistrate Azrimah Abdul Rahman adjourned the case to August 22 for trial dates to be fixed.
