Focus on child abuse and prevention

Project Women and Girls Development in collaboration with the Women’s Bureau of Teraja Longhouse held a dialogue session on the prevention of child sexual abuse at Teraja Longhouse recently.

The session, led by founder and Executive Director of Project Women and Girls Development Nur Judy binti Abdullah, aimed to raise awareness on child sexual abuse and ways to prevent it.

Fifteen members from the agency including student volunteers made the trip. They were welcomed by head of the Women’s Bureau of Teraja Longhouse Embong anak Munah. Nur Judy introduced the content of the community dialogue session, followed by a viewing of the film Red Leaves Falling, a film about child sex trafficking and online child pornography.

Co-founder of RespectME.bn Hajah Nurun Nassuha binti Haji Yunus led a sharing session on local cases of child abuses and violence, which brought about an in-depth discussion into the topic.

After the dialogue, donations were presented to the longhouse’s children.

A series of performances were also held by the ‘Bugtaw’ group, as well as by the committee members of the longhouse.
