The Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) along with fish entrepreneurs held a Fisheries Mini Carnival at the Pasarneka Perindustrian Serasa near the Muara Fish Landing Complex from August 28 to yesterday.
The mini carnival received overwhelming response from the public which aimed to help fish entrepreneurs market their products and gain support towards contributing to the gross domestic product. The carnival also sought to support MPRT’s initiatives to increase the production of the fishery industry in the country by 2020 end.
The carnival promoted fish as a healthy source of protein with the ‘Eat Fish’ campaign.
The mini carnival was joined by five local entrepreneurs from the catching sectors, one from aquaculture sector and 13 from seafood processing sectors. Fish, prawns, crabs, squid and various fishery products were on sale.
The seafood processing entrepreneurs offered crackers, shrimp paste, smoked fish, dried fish and more.
