Chef Mohd Ali Asmae bin Haji Mohd Nasir is sharing his culinary experience during cooking classes specialising in Tutong cuisine.

The classes are the result of brainstorming with his friends. The classes were proposed to tourism operators to showcase Tutong’s culinary culture and develop food tourism in Brunei Darussalam.

“When we organise a cooking class, we provide at least six different food items like Tagari cucumber salad, prawn chives, Sambal Umbut, lemongrass chicken and stir-fried Pakis.

“We will demonstrate and teach the participants step by step how to mix the ingredients and how to cook it.

“So far we received a number of participants from several countries including those from Europe, Japan, China, South Korea, Malaysia and more.

“We are also lucky that our lemongrass chicken was featured in the Muhibbah magazine last year in April.

“Usually the cooking class is based on advance booking. We also accept one-on-one cooking classes. We hope our younger generation are keen to learn traditional and local delicacies,” he added.
