Build faith, patience amid challenges

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said that Muslims should resolve to build strong faith and patience amidst trials and challenges, by heeding the history and purpose of Aidiladha.

In a titah broadcast on national television and radio from Istana Nurul Iman on the eve of Hari Raya Aidiladha for 1441 Hijrah, His Majesty said, “During this festival, which is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, we are encouraged to carry out sacrificial rites.

“The event originated from the command of Allah the Almighty to Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) to slaughter his own son, Prophet Ismail (pbuh). This was truly a trial of their faith and patience, but in the end they passed the test.”
