A total of 9,984 individuals registered under the National Welfare System (SKN) saw it since it started operation on July 15.
This was revealed by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin during yesterday’s press conference.
Some 2,866 individuals applied through Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) and Community Development Department (JAPEM). Among them, 1,444 applied through MUIB and 1,422 applied through JAPEM.
The minister said because the system is new and some problems were encountered during registrations and several individuals asked for assistance. Some 3,300 were aided during registration at Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and JAPEM offices.
The minister added that since August 4, JAPEM approached 17 villages to help residents register in the system.
“We will continuously provide the public with a platform to register for SKN,” said the minister.
