I would like to applaud the government for doing an excellent job in stemming the tide of COVID-19 in the country.
When I look at the news regarding the pandemic situation in certain countries, I’m grateful for the decisive measures put forward by the Ministry of Health (MoH) at the onset of the coronavirus, allowing us to be infection-free for almost two months.
I also welcome the de-escalation plan that paves way for the resumption of normalcy after months of uncertainties and fears.
However, I am quite confused about the new safety guidelines that allow for mass gatherings of 50 people while the precautionary measure remains for team sports such as football and basketball.
I am an avid football player at recreational level.
While we were still battling the virus, my friends and I were happy to support all the measures needed to contain the outbreak.
After all, we were fighting a virus that we knew very little about. So, I found alternative workout plans to keep my fitness level up.
When I heard that Brunei has entered Phase 3 of the de-escalation plan, I was overjoyed only to be let down by the realisation that the restrictions for team sports are still in place.
My question is: Will the restrictions on team sports be lifted soon?
