A Vietnamese man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court last Saturday, of bribing a security guard.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fitri Kiprawi’s charge against Phan Anh Du’c, 31, alleges that he gave BND120 as a bribe to the security guard on duty at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park at 2pm, on July 5.

The allegation states that he offered the money to the guard as an inducement for allowing him to bring liquor to his workplace.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the defendant last Thursday. According to investigations, the defendant had attempted to conceal the liquor by transferring it to bottles.

The suspected liquor is currently being analysed by the Department of Scientific Services.

Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim ordered the defendant to be further remanded and adjourned the case to July 18.
