Uprooted trees, snake sightings following flash floods

Heavy rain and strong winds on Friday evening caused brief flashfloods in the Brunei-Muara District with the Fire and Rescue Department receiving a call regarding uprooted trees and another to fix a flag thread.

The department also received 12 calls over snake sightings and one call of a room getting locked.

In total, the department received 15 calls regarding incidences on Friday.

Meanwhile, the sultanate will experience isolated showers tonight and on July 14 night. Night thunderstorms will be experienced tomorrow, the Meteorological Department said.

The country is experiencing the Southwest Monsoon where the wind blows from the Southwest direction. Atmospheric conditions tend to be quite stable with minimal thundershowers occurrences. During heavy showers or thundershowers, it is important for the public to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas. The public, road users and fishermen are advised to check the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD).
