Foreign travellers who come to the sultanate by land will have to fill in the transit declaration form and adhere to the limit of travelling duration, as part of the measures in tackling the outbreak of COVID-19.

This was mentioned by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah during a press conference yesterday.

“For instance, visitors who travel from the Kuala Lurah Immigration Control Post to Sungai Tujoh Control Post will be given three hours to cross the country, while travelling from the Labu Control Post to Ujong Jalan Control Post will be limited to one hour.”

He stated that other measures will be observed to further monitor visitors by using technology through their vehicles. “We could not control or trace the visitors, if for instance they went out from their vehicles. We can only monitor the vehicle movement but not the individual. This is still under discussion with tech companies,” he said. Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong added several measures are conducted since June 20, including random assessment by the Immigration and National Registration Department for 300 travellers who entered and exited from Sungai Tujoh Control Post to Kuala Lurah Immigration Control Post on July 18, 19 and 20. “The assessment shows that the travelling duration for most of the vehicles recorded less than two hours, and none with over three hours.

“More assessment and review will be conducted to other control posts,” he said.
