Singapore reports 249 new COVID-19 cases, including 16 in the community

SINGAPORE (CNA) – Singapore reported 249 new COVID-19 infections as of noon yesterday, including 16 cases in the community and five imported cases, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its preliminary update.

This brings the total number of cases in the country to 46,878.

All the community cases involve work pass holders. Four of them were close contacts of earlier cases and had already been placed on quarantine, said the MoH. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing for the other cases.

The five imported cases had been placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore, the MoH said.

The rest of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
