An individual has been fined BND500 for violating mandatory self-isolation at a hotel accommodation in the capital.
The breach was discovered by officers from the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Health Enforcement Unit during Special Ops Merati (Operasi Merati Khas) carried out on quarantine facilities provided by the government recently.
Under the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204), individuals served with a self-isolation notice are required to remain at their primary place of residence and to refrain from all outside activities for a 14-day period from their date of arrival in the country.
Failure to comply is an offence punishable by imprisonment of up to six months or a BND10,000 fine, or both.
