Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) students are expected to understand and appreciate KUPU SB’s main values – namely Fatanah (wisdom), Amanah (upholding trust), Sidiq (truthful) and Tabligh (spreading faith/ advocacy) – as a guide in the formation of student identity and character.
They are also expected to continue to seize opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills through courses in selected fields as well as co-curricular programmes offered at KUPU SB.
KUPU SB Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar said this yesterday at the KUPU SB Ta’aruf Week (orientation week) for 253 new students of the 14th intake.
Dr Haji Adanan also discussed the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) personality and KUPU SB’s way forward as a religious teaching institution of higher learning in Brunei Darussalam.
He also called on students to make a checklist ensuring that by the end of their studies, they would be more knowledgeable, professional educators, able to master curriculum and pedagogy as well as have MIB leadership, skills and abilities to contribute to the community and the country.
The students pledge was read, led by Higher National Diploma in Religious Teaching student, Muhammad Noor Syahmi bin Mazne.
The four-day Ta’aruf Week, which kicked off on Monday and ends tomorrow, will include briefings related to management and administration at KUPU SB, programmes and courses offered, teaching and learning sessions as well as co-curricular activities presented by the deans of the faculty, directors and division heads.
Additionally, religious activities including evening talks, congregational prayers, recitation of Al-Quran in Halaqah (gathering in circle) manner, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Ratib Al-Attas will also be held.
The new students will begin their academic session on August 3. The Ta’aruf Week is being held at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong District in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
