Religious event to mark royal birthday

Brunei will celebrate the 74th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday.

A Doa Kesyukuran, mass Fardhu Maghrib, Sunnat Hajat will be held tomorrow to mark the occasion.

The highlight of the event will be at Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong while similar events will be held in mosques across the nation.

The focus in the Brunei-Muara District will be Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Al-Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque, Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque, Setia Ali Mosque and Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque.

In the Belait District, the focus will be at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Perumahan Negara Kampong Pandan Mosque and Pekan Seria Mosque.

In the Tutong District, it will be held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque and in the Temburong District, it will be held at Masjid Utama Muhammad Salleh.

With COVID-19 preventative measures, congregants attending the event at Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah are required to make reservations via the BruHealth app by clicking ‘Majlis Kesyukuran Ulang Tahun Keputeraan KDYMM ke-74 Tahun’.

Attendees are required to perform ablution (wudhu) at home, wear face masks, bring prayer mats, scan QR codes, go through body temperature checks, sanitise hands, avoid shaking hands, practise social distancing and encouraged to leave immediately after the event.

Only those with green and yellow codes are allowed to attend the event. Those with symptoms of fever, cough, flu, breathing problems and others are not allowed to attend.

Women and children ages below 15 are not allowed to attend.
