The Engineering Design Services of Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd hosted an Internship Completion Ceremony at Garden Sentral Hotel yesterday.

Ten students from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and one from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) received their certificates from Chairman and Managing Director of Serikandi Group of Companies Shaikh Haji Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmed.

Shaikh Haji Khalid extended the commitment to increase employment for locals, as part of the company’s efforts to support the nation’s local business development and policy.

“We also look forward to further expand our collaboration with UTB and IBTE to aid the students in developing the skills for their future careers,” he said.

A representative of the students Mohamed Hamizah Shahul Hameed said their two-month work experience was to complement the theories they learnt in class.

The students were the first batch to complete internship at the company.

The internship programme was organised to reduce the nation’s unemployment rate by providing students with the knowledge and basic skill sets for future career paths.
