Not wearing seat belt costs senior citizen his life

A local senior citizen passed away in an accident involving two vehicles on Muara-Tutong Highway in Kampong Lugu of Brunei-Muara District yesterday morning.

Sengkurong Police Station received a distress call at 3.35am regarding the accident, according Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Pek Chong Tong, 68, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedic.

The body was transported to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan for the post mortem.

Initial investigations revealed the man was not wearing seatbelt at the time of the accident.

RBPF advised the public not to drive while fatigued, and always be alert.
