Even though countries in the region are discussing border reopening, it does not mean the borders are ready for the step.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said this during the press conference at the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Al-‘Afiah Hall yesterday.

This was in response to a question regarding the re-opening of borders to essential travel and proposals made by Singapore, China and Malaysia on ‘Green Lanes’ or ‘Green Bubbles’.

The minister added that the countries will need to agree on requirements to travel within and outside the countries for this purpose.

“These are not to be taken lightly,” said the minister, adding that some neighbouring countries are not ready contrary to the claims.

The minister said the Brunei Government has yet to make any decision of the proposals.
