The Ministry of Health (MoH) launched the implemention of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) QuickPay cashless transactions at all health centres and facilities under the MoH during a ceremony yesterday.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar officiated the launch at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Lobby.
Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, BIBD Managing Director and CEO Mubashar Khokhar, directors, and senior officers at the MoH and BIBD were also present.
RIPAS Hospital is the first hospital to use BIBD QuickPay and the ministry will implement the payment method in all hospitals and health centres in the future.
BIBD Quickpay is an initiative by the ministry to provide alternative facilities for the public to make payments. Since the transactions are contactless, it also reduces risk of infections that spread via contact.
The cashless transaction is also in support of the government’s embrace of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to transform Brunei Darussalam into a Smart Nation. Cashless payment also allows better efficiency in money management.
Powered by BIBD NEXGEN, BIBD QuickPay allows customers to make payments by simply scanning a QR code through the BIBD NEXGEN Wallet on their smartphones. The digital payment solution is one of BIBD’s branchless banking initiatives using the BIBD NEXGEN platform in partnership with several industries outside the banking sector, while encouraging the creation of a cashless economy.
