A local man entered his pleas of innocence in the Intermediate Court on Saturday on charges of allegedly scamming a foreign man off nearly BND50,000. Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni adjourned the case to July 30 to fix the trial dates. The 14 charges levelled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihan Nabilah binti Haji Ahmad Ghazali against Zaini bin Haji Mirasan, 56, alleges him of cheating a foreign man on numerous occasions in return for his promises to assist the foreign man in applying for permanent residency between 2012 and 2016.

The defendant also allegedly forged documents for the scam.
