The Public Works Department (JKR) under the Ministry of Development (MoD) awarded three projects worth over BND10 million to local companies following a contract signing and appointment of consultant ceremony yesterday morning.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar was guest of honour at the ceremony at Atria Simpur Hall of JKR.
Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin and senior officials from the ministry were also present.
Acting Director-General of Public Works Alice Lim Sui Kau signed the contracts on behalf of JKR.
The first contract was with Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd for replacing/moving Kampong Lamunin Main Pipe.
The project taking 24 months to complete is worth BND2,639,350. The project aims to stabilise drainage and water supply.
The second contract was for construction of water tanks and water pump system with Mountbiz Sdn Bhd. The project worth BND1,483,313 will take 24 months to complete. The project is aimed at upgrading water supply to accommodate growth at Kampong Sungai Akar, Kampong Pulaie and surrounding areas.
The last contract was signed with Foundation Contractor and Engineering Sdn Bhd. The upgrading of Bailey steel bridge to concrete bridge is worth BND6,016,888 and takes 24 months to complete. The project ensures the safety and ease of travel for road users in the area.
Meanwhile, Zin Salleh and Partner Consultant was appointed as consultant for the project of building raw water pump station and installing new raw water pipe from Badas to SPARK areas. Permanent Secretary at the MoD Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria signed the document.
The ceremony concluded with the handing over of the contracts and letter of appointment.
