Koperasi Lambah Tempayan Pisang Chairman Haji Muhammad bin Haji Muhd Yassin suggested building a link road to RPN Kampong Serasa, which is a short distance from the Bukit Tempayan Pisang Recreational Park in Kampong Kapok, except that there is currently no road access to the village.
“Although much of the area is owned by village residents and property owners, the link road can be managed without involving these land plots, as it can be laid alongside the river banks of the Muara Bay, which also provides a panoramic view of the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge,” he said.
He made these comments when Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim made a working visit to the Bukit Tempayan Pisang Recreational Park in Kampong Kapok recently.
It was hosted by Koperasi Lambah Tempayan Pisang, in collaboration with the Kampong Kapok Village Consultative Council (MPK Kapok).
“Providing this link road as an alternative route to Serasa Beach would help ease the traffic congestion when there is an event at the Watersports complex, due to there being only one road to Serasa Beach.”
Later, the district officer participated in the planting of fruit saplings near the entrance to the park, together with Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Serasa and the Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman.
Village heads from the Zone 2 area were also involved in the tree-planting.
The district officer toured the fruit farms belonging to cooperative members, and also participated in a cleaning campaign.
Established in 1993, Koperasi Lambah Tempayan Pisang has around 32 members engaged in the cultivation of local fruit plants such as durian, mangosteen and rambutan besides coconut.
