House damaged by fallen tree, no injuries

A massive mango tree fell on a house in Kampong Pancha Delima on Sunday. All 15 residents of the house were unharmed in the incident.

The Fire and Rescue Department on receiving a distress call at 10.59am deployed five fire personnel from the Women’s Operation Unit led by ASO Hajah Habybah binti Haji Ya’akub to the scene of the incident.

The fire personnel immediately cut the fallen tree measuring 20m in height and 40cm in diameter using a chain saw. The tree damaged a part of the roofing of the house and a toilet.

The FRD reminded the public to be on the alert about falling trees, especially during unpredictable weather and avoid planting trees close to houses.

The public is also advised not to park vehicles close to trees and residents are requested to trim the branches. The public can contact 995 during an emergency.
