Gold investment scam case adjourned to August 6

The case of a 45-year-old Indonesian woman alleged with having attempted to buy a lottery ticket, overstaying and cheating came up again in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Susanti binti Joko allegedly attempted to buy a lottery ticket at a building in Kampong Bengkurong on July 4, overstayed in the country after the expiry of her Immigration pass since 2019 and also allegedly cheated a woman off her gold jewellery worth BND3,047.29.

Allegations stated that the defendant cheated the woman claiming that she would invest her jewellery in a gold investment scheme with returns of BND200 monthly.

DPP Nor’adliatul Hidayah binti Haji Mohd Zaidi informed Magistrate Hajah Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid that police investigations are still underway before the prosecution can finalise charges. The court adjourned the case to August 6.
