Four receive certificates for dousing car fire

Principal of Stella’s School Lise Kim Chandler, Ronnie Vin Luan, Akmal bin Latif and She’arah Jayne Abdullah @ Jayne Rahman received Community Service certificates presented by the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) through Operation Branch ‘C’ at Stella’s School yesterday.

The certificates were for their quick action in extinguishing a car fire using three carbon dioxide fire extinguishers before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The event began with a briefing by Commanding Officer of Operation Branch ‘C’ Senior Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Pengiran Azizul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Yusop, followed by the certificate presentation.

Public Relation Officer of Operation C SO Haji Kipla bin Haji Angas and personnel of Operation Branch C were also present.

The FRD’s recommendation for car fire safety measures included having more knowledge about car fire safety, ensuring wiring installation is performed by qualified mechanics and having dry chemical powder fire extinguisher in the car. For vehicles over seven years, it is advisable to get it inspected at qualified workshops.
