Fire guts Kiulap house

A two-storey house in Kampong Kiulap was gutted by a fire on Wednesday. The nine foreigners residing in the house escaped without any injuries.

Twenty-two fire personnel from the Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station and assisted by Operation ‘A’ Branch of the Beribi Fire Station led by SO Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Maitamit were deployed to the scene after receiving the distress call.

The blaze had destroyed the upper floor of the house, made of wood, when fire personnel reached the area. The ground floor was made of concrete.

Seven water jets were used to control the blaze from spreading. The cause of the fire and the loss are under investigation.

Commanding Officer of Operation ‘A’ Branch SSFR Noor Aflan bin Kachi and Station Commander of Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station ASFR Hanif bin Haji Subuh were among the officers present.

The Fire and Rescue Department advised the public to equip their residences with a fire extinguisher, switch-off all electrical equipment before leaving the house or if not in use and not to leave the stove unattended.
