Firefighters worked hard to contain a car blaze along the Muara-Tutong Highway near The Empire Brunei at 10.30am yesterday.
Led by ABK 206 Shamsol bin Idris from the Rimba Fire Station, the 11-man crew doused the fire within two minutes, using a hose reel and by disconnecting the car battery with special tools.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) advised motorists to have all car electrical installations performed by accredited workshops, and to equip their vehicles with a fire extinguisher.
Vehicles over seven-years-old must undergo regular inspection.
Meanwhile, swift action by Sungai Kebun Fire Station personnel ensured a tyre and steel pile fire in Kampong Lumapas was contained within 30 minutes on Wednesday.
Deputy Commanding Officer ASFR Mohd Sopian bin Haji Yussof lef the seven-man team. The Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 2.55pm.
A Kobelco excavator from Syarikat MC Gasteelsh was used to expose the source of the fire, while firefighters used three water hoses to douse the flames.
