The School of Science and Engineering welcomed a new addition to jump start the new semester at Politeknik Brunei.

The school received a beam pump unit donated by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP). It was installed at the Lumut Campus on June 20.

The beam pump – also known as ‘nodding donkey’ – is a common sight in Seria and is an artificial lift device used in the petroleum industry to support the lifting of crude oil from bottom-hole to surface. The installation of the unit at the School of Science and Engineering will allow students to gain a better understanding of the beam pump system and enhance their learning experience.

Politeknik Brunei offers Level 5 Diploma in Petroleum Engineering programme to students interested in learning about petroleum engineering and want to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. The programme aims to develop students’ capacity in applying principles and practices in a real working environment safely and efficiently.
