A group of youth turned up at a Kampong Pandan residence on Saturday night for the ‘Entrepreneurship as a Side Income’ briefing, gaining pointers on how to start as an entrepreneur and the skills needed to do so.

The event was held to encourage entrepreneurship among the younger generation.
Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) teacher cum entrepreneur Richard Go shared his experience with attendees.

Richard said the briefing encourages fresh graduates and job seekers to find their footing with their own business. He added that youth should strive for discipline and must be committed “as starting a business on your own is not easy, and can come with many challenges.”

“The returns from setting up shop can come years later, hence the need to be disciplined in working towards a goal, while tackling the challenges along the way,” Richard said.

He also advised the younger generation to expand their expectations, distancing themselves from the norms laid out by earlier generations.

“It is more important to take opportunities, however slim it may be, as opportunities can lead to success and bring vital experience that can help build their repertoire to tackle future challenges.”
