Thirty-three secondary students who participated in the Anti-Drug Quiz last March received prizes during a ceremony at the Lecture Hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Secondary School yesterday.

On hand to present the prizes was President of Brunei Darussalam National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali. The school’s Principal Chong Li Chen was also present.

The Anti-Drug Quiz was organised by BASMIDA in collaboration with YSHHB Secondary School and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on March 5. NCB also displayed an exhibition during the event.

Datin Hajah Masni said the quiz was part of BASMIDA’s Preventive Drug Education (PDE) activities, which serves to answer the call by NCB in working together towards whole-of-nation approach in tackling drug abuse in the country.

BASMIDA hoped that the activity will help provide accurate information on dangers of drug abuse, in line with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) theme, ‘Better Knowledge for Better Care’.

The BASMIDA MIB publication by Datin Hajah Masni was also distributed to the winners to inculcate, defend, strengthen, practise and educate on MIB values to ensure the country is peaceful and prosperous under the guidance of Allah the Almighty.

Principal Chong Li Chen expressed gratitude for the collaboration by BASMIDA on the Anti-Drug Quiz and exhibition at the school.

BASMIDA’s anti-drug campaigns aim to employ an Islamic approach to supporting the nation’s vision towards becoming a Zikir Nation.
