Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) reminded the public to remain vigilant against phone scams that aim to obtain customers’ personal and banking information with the intention of causing financial loss.
BIBD advised the public to exercise caution when answering calls from unfamiliar local or international numbers as well as refraining from disclosing personal information over the phone or other media platforms (such as e-mail, social media and others).
BIBD does not make use of messaging applications or third party platforms when contacting customers. Should there be any initiatives requiring or requesting customers’ details, this will only be performed after due notice has been made to the public through the bank’s official channels.
The public and our customers may verify the authenticity of calls received from BIBD by getting in touch with our Contact Centre through mobile chat in our BIBD NEXGEN Wallet or by calling 223 8181 to confirm if the call was made by a BIBD representative.
Members of the public who believe they received hoax calls or phone scam attempts should contact the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) to lodge an official police report.
