Vietnamese woman detained for prostitution

Personnel from the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) detained a Vietnamese woman for allegedly providing sexual services.

Cash and other evidence were collected from a hotel room in the capital.

The 33-year-old suspect has been in the country since March and holds a visitor’s pass, Acting Head of Major Crimes at the CID Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Haji Khairul Amilin bin Haji Idris said at a press conference.

The suspect and the evidence were taken to the CID for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 294A of the Penal Code, Chapter 22 on the offence of offering sex services.

The RBPF will continue to monitor and take action on criminal activities that violate the laws of the country. Information on illegal activities can be reported to the police hotline at 993 or the nearest police station.
