Tuition, music schools reopen

Tuition schools and music schools re-opened yesterday, in an additional easing of restrictions, but only one-on-one classes are allowed at the current phase in the de-escalation plan.

When asked whether it was possible to teach more pupils if social distancing, temperature checks and the use of face masks were observed, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar replied, “One-on-one classes for tuition and music schools are sufficient at present.”

“Following discussions with the Ministry of Education (MoE), it would not be possible. In principle, it is possible, but then, it’s very difficult to monitor tuition schools. It is all about the monitoring and enforcement of these centres, so doing it on a one-on-one basis is much easier,” he said yesterday, during the daily press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH).
