Three held for suspected gambling activities

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) apprehended three individuals in Kampong Sungai Liang suspected of being involved in gambling activities on Wednesday afternoon.

Acting Commanding Officer of the Belait Police District Superintendent Handrie bin Haji Amin said, “The detained suspects are a 60-year-old Malaysian man, a 58-year-old female permanent resident and a 63-year-old local man, all of whom were suspected to have collected betting slips from four-digit lottery players.”

He added that the suspects had been brought to the Sungai Liang Police Station for further investigation.

The acting commanding officer also reminded members of the public that gambling is illegal under Section 4(c), Chapter 28 of the Common Gaming Houses Act; and invites up to BND5,000 in fine and three years’ jail term.
