Tawau fire victims receive food, cash aid

TAWAU (BERNAMA) – Forty households comprising 158 fire victims at Lorong Haji Sundu Batu 2, Jalan Apas yesterday received food and cash donations from Apas assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.

The assemblyman from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia said the donation was hoped to help ease the burden of the fire victims.

“We are deeply saddened and concerned about the fate of those affected by the disaster and hope they continue to be patient,” he said yesterday.

To date, 90 voluntary organisations, politicians, private companies and individuals have come forward to provide assistance to the victims, including handing over face masks.

On Wednesday, about 20 homes, six cars, four motorcycles and a convenience store were destroyed in a fire with losses estimated at nearly MYR1 million.
