As part of the four types of sports complexes and facilities, indoor and outdoor sports facilities opened their doors after months of closure due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Table tennis joined a list of sports including badminton, ten-pin bowling, archery and tennis that have made returns in indoor and outdoor sports facilities across the country.
Table tennis facilities, which national athletes also use for training, came into attention with a number of single matches yesterday.
According to a player, more tables were allowed to accommodate more players since the announcement of the increased capacity to 60 per cent from the initial 30 per cent in the second phase of the de escalation plan.
Tennis courts also received a good response among the community with the National Tennis Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex accepting individuals especially during weekends.
Brunei’s badminton community received a boost as courts opened their doors when the first phase was extended to the inclusion of sports that perform single matches in addition to a solo match.
Bowling centre operators such as Utama iBowl and Golden Bowling Company also welcomed the return of bowlers with safety measures in force where only one bowler is allowed to play in a single lane. Golfers in the country also enjoyed return to their favourite courses.
As practised by every indoor and outdoor sports facility, players/patrons must scan their QR code through their BruHealth application before using the facilities.
On premises, users are advised to be socially responsible in ensuring physical distancing and maintaining their personal hygiene as well as ensuring the cleanliness of equipment and facilities at all times.
