The number of joggers has increased after some restrictions were lifted and no new COVID-19 cases recorded in the sultanate for about a month.

Jogger AqidahIwani told the Sunday Bulletin yesterday she saw an increase in the number of joggers over a week ago, especially at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas and around the waterfront area in the capital.

“I noticed many people participating in activities, especially jogging, running, hiking and cycling. Even though there are no new COVID-19 cases, we still need to comply with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health,” she said.

AqidahIwani said outdoor activities can still be conducted but not in groups.

Fatin Syahirah said since the COVID-19 outbreak, she did her workout at home and is now happy that she is able to participate in outdoor activities.

“The number of people participating in outdoor activities has increased. I am sure these people are aware of their responsibilities and continue to practise social distancing and avoid mass gatherings,” she said.

She added, “We should not be complacent. I believe that with the re-opening of gyms and fitness centres, more people will start to be active again.”
