Sermon highlights collective effort to combat drug abuse, trafficking

Azlan Othman

Yesterday’s Friday sermon highlighted the importance of community action in overcoming drug abuse.

“We should increase our awareness and understanding on drug abuse, and make an effort to prevent it from destroying our youth,” Imams said during the sermon.

“Parents play a major role in the youth’s character development to ensure they will not easily get involved in harmful activities, moral degradation and serious offences including drug abuse.

“The community also plays a role in the eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

“Those who previously abused drugs and are undergoing rehabilitation should be guided, supported and motivated, instead of being shunned.

“As a community, we have a responsibility to guide former drug users and give them the opportunity to change their ways for the better.

“May we be protected, and may our people and nation be saved from disgraceful acts, and obtain mercy from Allah the Almighty.”
